Designed for a small box. Very much the same as a 904-8A
Still an excellent speaker especially when used with subs!

That explains it. A picture is worth a thousand words....

Here are pictures of the fronts of the speakers. Very clean to my eye - a little dribble on one and the bug screens look a little funky.

They look very clean, the cabinets look very well done too.
Nothing wrong with a little surround goop puddle, that's just "patina" to a certified Altec junkie.
Not all vegetables make good leaders.
They look to be in great shape--a very nice find!

This spec sheet has got the Qts wrong, rather it seems to be a misprint. The Qts should be 0.287, and not 0.9287.
Also the F response of 60 - 20KHz seems more to do with the 6 cuft enclosure (5191-X) than its actual abilities.
A real measurement will be great.
Good acquisition friend

Now that you mention it I do see the note at the bottom of the page stating "Measurements were made in a 6 cu. ft vented enclosure". I wonder how much better the bass response could be if Ed experiments with the tuning/port size of his new cabs? Measurements would be great if possible.....
